Most asked questions

1.

Do you have an ice maker?  If not, what is the source of ice?

Yes, but sometimes in the extreme heat of July it stops. Then you’ll need to go to town.

2.
What size refrigerators and freezers do you have?  How many?
We have 3 refrigerators and 1 freezer; all are 'normal' household kitchen size.

3.
Is the kitchen small or is it commercial/industrial sized?
The kitchen is a medium-sized commercial kitchen.

4.
Pots, pans, water pitchers, etc.  How many do you have of each of the main cooking tools?  Should we bring any of our own?
No, we have more then you will need

5.
Where and how far away is the closest grocery store?
The nearest grocery store is the IGA about 1 mile; we have a Save A Lot about 3 miles away.

6.
Is there a dishwasher? No. I did have a dishwasher, but it just sat there so I took it back.  We have place settings for 75 people so you're welcome to use our dishes but most groups just use disposable.

7.
Facilities to eat on – I assume there are plenty of tables and chairs?
Yes--we can seat over 75 people easily.

8.
Do we provide our own linens?
Yes.  Twin size will work; you need bathroom items as well.

9.

Do we need to bring fans and heaters? There is AC in the cabins, but some people like fans also to move the air better.  In the winter you will need heaters.

10.   Are there any restrooms in individual cabins or are they all community restrooms?
We have male and female restrooms and showers in the main buildings.

11.   Are we responsible for cleaning the cabins and camp before we leave?
YES!  Sometimes we only have an hour in-between different weeks of work campers and it’s too big of a job to do alone.

12.        Are you open to a “pre-visit” by me or a couple of people from our church?  We might like to look at the facilities, kitchen, sleeping arrangements, etc. and might like to visit the project sites you have mentioned to take measurements and get an idea for supplies.
A "pre-visit" is no problem as long as I do not have a camp going on at that time.

 13.        Is there room for air mattresses on the floors of the cabins to sleep additional people?  To put air mattresses on the floor would be tight and a fire hazard. We have 8 cabins; each cabin can sleep 6 people (48 total).

14.       Do you have an objection to pitching tents on the grounds for additional people? No, as long as you don't mind sleeping with the llama. (just kidding) We have room for overflow of up to 52 people.

15.       Does the VBS take place outside or inside? You have use of the camp inside and out.

16.       What are typical June temps in the mountains at night?  We are assuming 80s and 90s during the days.  75 is about the average June temp at night and July temps are in the 80's 'till about 11:00 am.

17.       Is there a deadline for the payment or deposit that we will owe you for our accommodations?  We need $500 to reserve your week (that is nonrefundable and goes toward your stay).  You can bring the rest when you come.

        18. Are there actives for us to do at night?  We can help you with night time activities or you can do your own thing.  Sunday night we suggest you go out to the work sites to meet the families.  Mondays night you can do clogging lessons ($1 per person).  Tuesday night we hang around here, play tennis, volley ball, camp fire, carpet ball, or whatever.   Wednesday we go to a church and then stop by Dairy Queen for a snack.  Thursday we recommend you take half a day to see the Natural Bridge State Park (one of the wonders of this area) and there is a pool to cool off (it’s about $4 per person). And don't miss the clogging dancing at Hoedown Island on Friday night!  ($3 per person)
